Description

Department of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics and Electronic science together arranged an educational tour to Rail Museum and Howrah Planetarium and Astronomical research centre on 18th January, 2024. The tour was arranged for semester-I and semester-III students of all the above-mentioned science departments. The journey was started from Serampore at about 10 a.m. on the day. The first destination of the educational tour was the Rail Museum. The museum houses a vast collection of exhibits that showcase various rail models as well as different railway parts, where science and technology has been vastly used. It is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about various scientific phenomena, including electricity, magnetism, and optics. The second destination was Howrah Planetarium and Astronomical research centre. There was a 3D show that tells interesting story about various astronomical phenomena as well as behaviour of poles of planets, about nature of different planets etc. Students enjoyed the show and earned lots of knowledge from the show. Small lunch and snacks were arranged in between. The journey ended at Serampore at about 5 p.m.

Outcome

In conclusion, the educational tour provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn outside of the classroom setting. The tour’s theme of promoting scientific knowledge, historical awareness, and environmental consciousness is evident in the choice of destinations. The tour is an excellent opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge that they can apply in real-life situations, broaden their horizons, and enhance their learning experience.
